My Amsterdam...

Door Tiany op 27/07/11

Just to refresh your mind: about a week ago I attended the Amsterdam Fashion Week on the kind invitation of lingerie brand Hunkemöller (all them lovely little booties you can admire here). Of course I could not resist the very tempting call of shopping  and I succumbed to the repeated voice in my head. So I took the fashion path, unfortunately not without any collateral bank account damage...

So just in case you decide to hop on a train and head towards A'dam, just a small parcours you shouldn't avoid.

The 9 straatjes: the must-visit streets of Amsterdam with plenty of unique little boutiques and a massive amount of 2nd hand and vintage stores. On my 'always check it out' list:

*Rika: the cutest little boutique in A'dam, selling the pretty goodies of Swedish designer Ulrika and accessories such as the very adored PS1 bags or the head ornaments of Maison Michel. Rika is the kind of collection you will want in your closet, with plenty of lovely dresses, pretty blouses and to hot to handle printed trousers. Opening Ceremony in NY sells Rika and the clothes are often spotted on the likes of Alexa Chung and Kate Moss, so I pretty much advice you to have a look at this store.

*Lock, Stock & Barrel: Vanessa Bruno, Baum und Pferdgarten, Current Elliott, Sessun and so much more beautifully selected brands. This pretty shop also sells shoes, jewels and to keep your hubby entertained while you're going nuts... Lock, Stock & Barrel also offers some goodies for the guys.

*The Frozen Fountain: just in case you need to get back home with some kind of souvenir, forget about the endless windmills in Delft Blue and just get yourself a pretty something at Frozen Fountain. An authority when it comes to in-house decoration and you can really find some amazing cool stuff for your crib.

*Ready to Fish: wonderful Dutch brand founded by the amazing designer Ilja Visser, selling interesting but very feminine garments, with a great sense for detailing. Their shop in the 9 straatjes is  like a white canvas filled with vintage furniture that has been given a new life and the very pretty Ready to Fish collection. Must-see shop to really understand what I mean, but pretty sure you'll fall in love with the awesome stuff they sell.

*Foodware: food for the soul and because you really need to eat something good when practicing the sport of shopping. This great little bistro/ take-away just stole my heart the very first second I stepped into it. The food is fresh, tastes wonderful, the drinks are biological and the setting in which you have your bite is just too cool & authentic for words. Guessing it's the foodie hotspot for cute looking expats, just so you know...
