We are currently making our Summer ’12 campaign. Benjamin Travade, a photographer from Paris, shot the collection. This was our third collaboration. We met him through Benoit Bethume, a friend we know since La Cambre. Benoit is a fashion director; he defines the atmosphere of the shooting. The face of our new campaign is Ellen Van der Plancken. She has this sophisticated, graceful femininity.

An afternoon at a friend’s art gallery in the centre of Brussels, the VidalCuglietta. The gallery is currently showing a triptych video installation by Wim Catrysse, in which he captures something of the apocalyptic yellowish aura of a sulphur mine in Java. Through a whirling veil of continuously changing shades of beauty you can catch a glimpse of the infernal labour of the miners.

To end this year in beauty, we make our last stock sale as a private event in a loft in Forest / Vorst Bxl. We welcome you to a calm and pleasant experience.

The end of last week has been very busy. Our Press Office, Tandem, organised its “Press Day”, a special event to which journalists, photographers, and stylists are invited for a preview of the new collections: Paule Ka, Sonia Rykiel, Louis Vuitton and Sandrina Fasoli are presented on the beats of DJ Digital Native.

A Parisian e-tv, Treets Look, interviewed Tony Delcampe, head of the Fashion Department at La Cambre – the school from which both of us graduated – about our new collection.

That evening we went to the opening of a friend’s exhibition, Pauline Cornu, at la Médiatine in Brussels.

Her work explores the body, intimacy, and the inmost sentiments. The empty gaze of the silhouettes she draws escapes candour, testifying of an unspeakable crack, an imminent danger.

On Friday and Saturday the Modo Stock Sales took place in the centre of Brussels. It was, again, a big success! Michael was there and got a lot of compliments from our clients. Since we don’t often meet our fans as are always at work behind the scenes, it is great to see so much enthusiasm.

Tomorrow we will shoot the Spring/Summer 2012 campaign with Benjamin Travade and Benoit Béthume. We are preparing all the outfits, shoes, accessories and the decor. I will be glad to show you a preview!

WALLPAPER* CITY GUIDE visited our flagship store at Brugmannplein 22 to take pictures. We are honoured as we really love those guides. Their minimalist covers in beautiful colours make us want to collect them all. The content is decent and the places mentioned are worth a visit. My favourite is the one on Copenhagen, where I tried almost every page.

You can also see our boutique at night. There is something about it that reminds of London’s old shop windows. We were enchanted when we originally found this place with a magnolia in the garden… It has so little in common with today’s boutiques.

Also the neighbourhood was very special, a florist, bookshop, children’s shop, perfumer, antique shop, jewellery store, nice cafés, all around a church right in the middle of the square. A charming, secret village in Brussels…

Hallepoort, in Brussels, an uncanny place until this cinema/bar Potemkine nested itself in the rooms and corridors of an old building. The pictures are taken from the balcony, where you can secretly follow what goes on downstairs at the bar and around the piano, while right behind you there is a screening of short films. 

For the fashion lovers “à petit prix”, there is once again the Modo Brusses stock sales. End of this week; Friday and Saturday 18 & 19 November at the Brussels Center of Fashion & Design (Nieuwe Graanmarkt 10 Nouveau Marché-aux-grains Place, 1000 Brussels). You can find many pieces of our previous collections and many other Belgian designers.
