PFW: The Haider Manoeuvre
Door Tiany op 04/10/11
Haider Ackermann is like a fashion genie in disguise. He has been working on his wonderful collections for quite a while now, but according to me he somehow has not entirely been placed in the spotlights he deserves. His fall/winter 2011 collection did manage to become a great triumph -finally- and for next season he amazed the fashion crowd once again with a Rockabilly Lord Byron look and models wearing flats. Indeed flats! Something not yet seen chez our dear mister Ackermann and therefor highly fascinating.
For the occasion Haider had casted the likes of Rubik, Abbey Lee and Natasha Poly and set up a huge reflective mirror as backdrop to his catwalk, models appeared on the catwalk to the tunes of Anthony Hegarty's version of John Lennon's Imagine in beautiful hues of blue, ruby red and silver.

I started backstage and had the great opportunity to see one of my favourite hairdressers work out some hairy magic. Eugene Souleiman came up with this extraordinary kind of effortless look, which of course had quite some work put into it. Pretty rough around the edges and boyish but sexy all the way. The technique? Layers of hair seemed to vanish in the hands of the Wella Professional Team as they knotted most of the mass away and had the models looking like rock royalty after a night out. Eugene explained how he got inspired by Haider's collection and how he wanted his hairstyling to have a certain movement and nonchalance, a match made in heaven with an amazing result on the amazing reflective catwalk.

One of my favourite Wella Pro poducts: the Ocean Spritz, used by Eugene to bring in some texture...

Eugene & Haider, checking if everything is all right.

Make-up wise the look was kept all clean and dewy with vaseline brown eyeshadow that blended onto the cheeks and made the models look even sexier than they already are... the entire look was just amazing and wildly applauded by the attending fashion incrowd - Anna Dello Russo, Michelle Harper and Catherine Baba included.
